damon_12-9-09.jpgIn 2005, having completed cosmetology school and beginning a study in massage therapy, I relocated to Irvington.

I began working with Anthony in the previous location of Snips. Mostly, I just hovered over him observing (and absorbing) his techniques making them my own. In a short amount of time, I was far too busy at work and uninterested (with my snowy bicycle commute) to continue my massage therapy course, where they had indubitably awarded me Most Comical Student.

In 2006, I was proud to help Kevin and Anthony expand their business and transform their new/current location. Participating in a couple of beauty pageants and the courtyard garden hair show, Up From The Dirt, provided opportunities for me to work with tradiotional and more creative hair styling. I gave a young lady (but not as young as myself) a magical hair cut, incidentally tricking her into accepting my marriage proposal. We moved to Boston, MA in 2007, leaving behind and missing many friends and family.

I found a fantastic salon, Judy Jetson, in Cambridge, MA that employed quite a few talented and interesting stylists that I enjoyed learning from and spending time with. With the prominent universities nearby, the clientele we serviced were literally from all over the world, giving opportunities to take on/tame some quite difficult manes. My clientele should also be thanked for stimulating me with such wonderful conversations. Year after year the salon received the Best of Cambridge.. Haircut from The Phoenix (equivalent to The Nuvo). I was proud to have been on the team for the 2007-2009 victories. In 2008, I was also fortunate enough to have been awarded Best of Boston.. Kid's Cut from Boston Magazine. Kid's are just mini-me's and should have amazing hair cuts too. In 2009, the wife and I welcomed the addition of our mini-us (a ferocious little red-haired man). Despite our successes in New England, we decided to move back to the east side of Indianapolis. I truly miss my friends, co-workers and clients.

Back at Snips, I am quite happy to be working with (and learning from) the talent of the current staff and seeing familiar faces of previous clients.

I am comfortable with wavy, curly, straight, short, medium, long, men and ladies, natural and colored hairs. I really like doing corrective colors and taking care of the heads of sneaky hairstylists that need to sneak away from other salons. I'm very easy going and am not pushy (nor judgemental) about personal styling routines. I work with what's desired and feasible. I don't do drama or pretension. If I could give everyone Braveheart and/or Where The Wild Things Are hair, I would be an elated individual. However, I understand that's not realistic. I love my work!

Outside of work, I am a mixed up man of all sorts. A few of my favorite things are ..banjos, big beats, pirates, bicycles, home restoring, jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts, nature, philosophy, animal-free culinary and the d-i-y ethic. Oh, and I really like mythological creatures.
